Priming the skin is all about getting your skin ready for foundation, making sure its smooth and hydrated. Some people use primer after applying moisturizer but personally i don't. I think its just too many layers.
Primers are good for a perfect coverage, they keep the foundation in place and make your makeup to last longer. They also hides your pores.
There is lip, eye and face primers and they all come in different shades. Eye primers enhance the colour of your eyeshadow and prevents creasing while the face primer help your foundation to last longer.
Some people just buy any primer they come across with but its better to get a primer that is really good for your skin and that has skincare benefits.
If you have a dry skin, maybe you should try "Laura Mercier-Hydrating Primer", it is good for your skin while" Laura Mercier - Oil-free Primer" is good for combination and oily skin.
There are primers for dull skin. If you have a dull skin, you can add a couple of drops of highlighter to your moisturizer, it gives the skin a little more energy and life or you can try "L'oreal Anti-dull skin primer". It has a combination of colour pigments and moisturizing agents which gives a warm glow to the complexion.
There are also primers for rough skin. "RMK Creamy Polished Base 01". This primer leaves a moisturizing feel, gives the skin that smooth matte finish and also nurtures it.
We cannot talk about primers without mentioning my favourite primer of all time.The "Daniel Sandler Texturizing Face Primer SPF20". I love this one because it has all the skincare benefits. It gives that nice luminousity to the skin and also has SPF20 which protects the skin from UV rays. Its just perfect for me.
Finally there are tightening primers like the" Clarins Flash-Balm Primer". It brightens, gives your skin radiance and also gives the skin a lift. It has a smooth finish and leaves the skin feeling fresh.

Its important to get a primer that soothes your skin colour, just a little dab on the face to give you that smooth base.
